Samsung has just recently launched the new Galaxy Tab Active 2 rugged tablet in the Indian market. The tablet is priced at around Rs.50,990. It comes with Android Nougat 7.1 out-of-the-box and will be getting the new software updates in the future.
Coming straight towards the specs then the rugged Galaxy Tab Active 2 possesses an 8-inch WXGA TFT display with a resolution of 1200x800p. It is powered by the Samsung’s own Exynos 7870 octa-core processor (clocking at 1.8GHz), combined with 3GB of RAM and Mali T830 GPU.
The in-built storage capacity of the tablet is only 16GB but it can be extended up to 256GB via microSD card. For better durability of day-to-day performance, there is a large 4,450mAh battery also.
Optics on the tablet include an 8MP rear camera, with LED flash, while on the front there is a 5MP lens.
For security and safety purposes, the device is MIL-STD-810 certified for drops, vibration, and extreme pressures. It’s also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. It also comes with 1.2m anti-shock in-box protective cover. Apart from that, Samsung has also provided Knox security platform which keeps user’s sensitive information safe against hacks and malware. The tablet also has a fingerprint scanner, along with facial recognition.
There is also Note series style ‘S Pen Stylus’ that has been provided by the company for this tablet. Interestingly, the S Pen is also IP68 certified, for tough conditions.
Coming on the part of availability then the tablet will be out for sale in the Indian market from mid-March.
