It’s official that Motorola is now entering the fold-able devices market. With competitors like the Galaxy Fold, Mate X and the Flex Pai, looks like Motorola will go old school.
Yes! the word out there is that the iconic RAZR will get a re-design.
Earlier this year, there were reports that Motorola will enter the fold-able device sector and the company, now, confirmed it in an interview with Engadget. It might be launching in the Q3 of 2019.
Speaking of the device, the interview also confirmed that the device will not feature full sized screen on the outside, unlike the Galaxy Fold and the Mate X. The company filed a patient for a horizontal folding mechanism, similar to as seen on the original RAZR.
In the interview, the company’s global VP, Dan Dery, said that a plastic OLED with a plastic film on top is being tested. The goal of the company is to minimize scratch-related issues on such devices.
If the device were to comeback, it would be a nostalgic moment for many. The trend of reviving iconic devices with modern specifications was first started by HMD Global. And now, it looks like Motorola is following it.
