A team of astronomers at NASA have captured the image of a star which collapsed to form a new object. It also happens to be the first of its kind. Now, the debate regarding this topic is whether the object is a Black Hole or a Neutron Star.
The outburst, which is called ‘The Cow’ occurred about 200 million light years away in the Hercules constellation. NASA’s Asteroid Alert System telescope caught an unusual burst in the sky for a brief period of time. It was caught on June 16, 2018, the US agency said in a statement.
NASA also states that for over three days, ‘The Cow’ produced sudden explosions of light for a brief period of time. Supposedly, at least ten times brighter than the Supernova, and then faded away over the next few months. The reason for this remarkable glow, as stated by NASA, is the stellar debris, approaching and swirling around the object’s horizon.
