Bird is all geared up to launch electric scooters in around 50+ European cities this spring! The company already began its expansion in Europe less than a year ago.
Bird, in today’s date, is already operating in countries like Paris, Zurich, Brussels, Vienna and many other European cities. The European fleet size will increase more than ten-fold with this launch.
“As we expand Bird’s global footprint, we will demonstrate unmatched innovation, commitment to riders, neighborhoods, and cities and operational excellence while generating an explosive run rate. This formula will drive great impact and progress on our mission to make our cities and communities more livable.”, Bird CEO Travis VanderZanden said in a statement.
Surprisingly, this launch of electric scooters happened after Bird laid off almost 4 to 5% of its workforce. The company’s annual performance review process involved these lay-offs and only affected US-based employees. Those who were laid off were entitled to severance, health, and medical benefits.
