Computer hardware giant Dell announced on 28th November,2018, a cyber attack took place earlier this month, on November 9.

Dell says, it detected an unauthorized access ”attempting to extract customer information” from its systems, such as personal details and encrypted credentials.

“Though it is possible some of this information was removed from Dell’s network, our investigations found no conclusive evidence that any was extracted,” Dell said in a press release.

Dell said it is investigating the incident, but said the breach wasn’t extensive as company’s cybersecurity measure are in place to limit such instance. The company also said intruders did not aimed payment card or any other sensitive customer information.

Dell set up a password reset for all user accounts after it came across the intrusion this month.

Along with resetting password, users must verify any changes with the information they have stored in their respective accounts. To be on the safer side, users must ensure no unauthorised payment done if they have stored their financial card details.

The company also said it had also hired cyber forensic expert firm to perform autonomous investigation to ensure impact of cyber attack.
