Things to look out for

The OnePlus marketing team has done a really good job. Everyone is so hyped up about this phone. But there are a few things you should look out for which might be a deal-breaker for you.

The Cameras

The OnePlus Nord has a Quad camera setup on the back and dual selfie cameras on the front. OnePlus advertises it as a flagship camera, the same as the one on OnePlus 8. The primary 48MP camera has Sony IMX586 sensor, the same sensor can be found in other cheaper phones. To put it simply it is not a true flagship, its competition the Google pixel 3A takes better photos. The camera is good but not one of the best.

The main advantage OnePlus Nord has is OIS, which is not present in its competition is a similar price range.

No Headphone Jack and Memory Card support

Since OnePlus Nord is supposed to be a budget smartphone people were hoping the OnePlus Nord would retain the headphone jack but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The phone supports dual sim but there is no memory card support which might be a problem for people who were interested in buying the 64GB variant. With increasing photo and video sizes and apps taking more and more space in your phone, you might find yourself becoming an expert in storage management. Understand your needs and choose wisely.

5G compatibility

Yes, OnePlus Nord is 5G compatible but is it worth investing is 5G just yet. In countries like India 5G is not even available yet but seeing at the rate how Jio is expanding it might be a not too far off. I’d say it should be launched by 2022 considering the pandemic going on. But launching 5G is different from making it available to everyone. The main advantage of 5G is better speed but 5G also has many limitations, the 5G signal weakens significantly if there are obstructions. Considering how densely populated India is and how the present telecom companies are facing difficulty providing decent 4G coverage, this 5G compatibly in my opinion is not worth it yet. It will increase its resale value though.

OnePlus Nord will be available in India via Sale on August 4th, 2020 on Amazon.in and OnePlus.in
