A new variant of the Oppo A5, going by the name of Oppo A5s has been revealed by the company. There are some modifications in the new variant, the major change being the new processor. The new model is using MediaTek’s Helio P35 chipset. The previous model, A5 used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 450.
The Helio P35 is a 12nm chipset that is comprised of a Cortex-A53 Octa-Core. It is coupled by a PowerVR GE8320 GPU which runs up to a speed of 680GHz. This GPU is the same as Helio P22’s. Both the chipsets run on the same CPU, Cortex A53. But, the speed of Helio P35 exceeds Snapdragon 450’s.
The Oppo A5s has a 3GB RAM and 64GB Internal Storage. It is said to have a 6.2 inch LCD IPS display with a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. The phone has a teardrop notch placed at the top where the 8MP selfie shooter is nestled. The rear camera setup is composed of a main 13MP shooter paired with a 2MP as well.
However, Oppo decided to keep the old version of Android in Oppo A5s too. It provides the Android 8.1 Oreo despite the long availability of Android Pie and the start of work in Android Q. The smartphone is also backed by a powerful 4,230mAh battery. It is supposed to ensure a long period of usage, credits to the power-efficient chipset.
The Oppo A5s is available in new colors too – Black and Red. The pricing and availability of the phone are yet to be confirmed.
