PUBG, the famous battle game, is now banned for users of age 13 in China. They would now have to ask their parents/guardians to open the game for them. This digital lock norm has been applicable to all other services, apps and games in China.
Tencent has restricted youth from accessing some of its games in China. This age restriction will possibly check gaming addiction among youth in the country.
The company uses technologies like Facial Recognition and a player ID to discover the demographic data of the players such as age and identities of those playing games like Honor of Kings and some others in China.
Furthermore, the gaming giant has imposed limits on how long young players can play the game and has also restricted its game content streaming to avoid violence, information about gambling and pornography, national politics and other harmful information.
