Qualcomm has just recently, but quietly, updated its popular and flagship processors used in the smartphones. Snapdragon 660, 670, 675, 710, 845, and the new flagship 855 SoC now support photos up to 192MP. Yes, you read that right.
This means that these chipsets can now capture pictures of the resolution around 192MP.
This new update by Qualcomm includes two new parameters also. One is MFNR (Multi-Frame Noise Reduction) and the other is ZSL (Zero Shutter Lag). Both of them combined will make sure that the noise is less, in pictures, and the capturing speed of the camera application is quick.
However, despite the update, currently, there’s no sensor, in the market, that supports photos of up to 192MP. Companies like Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor, and Vivo are coming up with phones having sensors of around 48MP only. So, to actually capture a 192MP image, the sensor will need to be made available too. Hope to see one in the coming future.
