The trend of the ‘Notch’ may soon fade away with the new ‘all-screen’ designs in smartphone displays, but, the notch is still a fan favorite. It was first introduced by Essential, the US phone manufacturer, even before Apple started the trend of the now famous notch. But just recently, Archos, a French electronics manufacturer has launched world’s phone with a ‘Side-Notch’.
Archos has unveiled its latest smartphone Oxygen 68XL, with a notch located at the top-right corner of the display! This is an unusual execution of the notch on a smartphone’s display. Only time will tell whether it’s a hit or a miss among the consumers.
Speaking of the phone itself, then the Archos Oxygen 68XL comes with a 6.85-inch HD+ display. It has a pixel density of 228 PPI. The device is powered by the Helio P22 Octa-core SoC, with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The phone has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal capacity (expandable via microSD card). The durability of performance is taken care of by a huge 5,000mAh battery. There is also 3.5mm audio jack.
The software platform is of Android 9.0 Pie operating system.
Optics include an 8MP rear camera with VGA sensor and LED flash. On the front, there is a 5MP selfie lens.
Talking of the availability and price then, the device is priced at €149 (about Rs.12,028) and will be there for purchase starting May. It’s also expected to be showcased at the upcoming MWC, from February 25-28.
